Finding your way around
Where a plan’s pages live on each device, and what the icons stand for.
A plan has pages: Summary & charts, Edit plan, Home stretch, Stress test, Compare, Year by year, Tax, DC pensions, DB pensions, What charges cost and Your record. On the web and the desktop app they are a row of tabs under the plan’s name, each with its icon, and the same list sits in the side menu under Active plan.
On an iPhone the pages are a row of icons above the plan, which scrolls sideways, and the name of each is spoken rather than written. An iPad has the room for icon and word. The editor and your record open as separate screens.
The icons: spectacles for the summary, a pencil for the editor, a flag for the Home stretch, a bolt for the stress test and two bars for Compare. A calendar for Year by year, the word TAX, DC and DB in a frame, scissors for charges and a record for Your record.
On the Plans screen the three actions are icons too: a plus in a circle starts a new plan, a shelf of books opens the sample plans, and a tray takes an import. Each is named for a screen reader.
The sun or moon under the Landfall mark switches between light and dark and keeps your choice. Settings offers the same choice, with System to follow the device.
A block with more to say keeps its figures in view and puts the rest under a Detail row, closed until you open it. The Home stretch’s rows close again each time you come back.
