Who it is for
The households Landfall models well, and the ones it will not serve.
Landfall suits a UK household of one or two adults with pensions, savings or investments and a rough idea of what they want to spend. Most people who find it useful are somewhere between building a plan and checking one they already have.
Some situations need more than a projection, and Landfall is the wrong tool for them:
- A question that is really about managing debt rather than funding retirement.
- A retirement funded mainly by means-tested benefits, such as Pension Credit after State Pension age, which Landfall does not model.
- Serious ill health, where a standard life expectancy is the wrong starting point.
- Anything needing a formal recommendation, which Landfall does not give.
There are also things the model does not cover yet. Rental income and the tax on it are the largest. Where something is left out and it moves a figure you are reading, the app says so beside that figure.
