Keeping your plan current

Logging the year that has gone, and recording what you already know is coming.

A plan written once is a snapshot. When a tax year ends, Landfall offers to log it: each pot’s balance on the year’s last day, what was earned, what was spent and the year’s inflation. Every field starts at what the plan expected, so you only type what differed.

A year that went as the plan expected can be settled with “Went as planned”. It logs the year at those figures and leaves the plan as it was.

From then on the projection carries on from what really happened rather than from the guess. The timeline marks the logged years, and a line above it says how the plan is tracking.

You can also record something you already know about this year or a later one — a pay rise, a pension starting, a move — as a known change. It is still a projection, and the app marks it as one. Once its year ends, logging that year confirms it.
