The home stretch
The tab for the years before your last pension starts.
Home stretch is a tab of its own, before Compare. It shows your plan while anyone in it has a leaving date ahead, until your last pension starts. Outside that it says why it is empty.
Each person’s facts stand under their name. ‘Your last working year’ names the leaving date. Its Detail row holds the tax years up to it: each year’s taxable income, its tax and the rate the next pound would meet. It also says what the leaving year leaves unused.
Under the same row, ‘Allowances that end with the tax year’ lists the room left under the pension annual allowance, the ISA allowance and the capital gains tax-free amount, and the day they end.
‘The bridge’ says in one sentence which years it covers and whether it is paid for. Its Detail row holds a table of each year’s bridge money, emergency fund and state. A pension pot that opens during the bridge counts what the plan draws from it that year, not the whole pot.
Below a rule, ‘Try a change’ holds the further views. Each previews a change across the tab, and changes nothing until you choose to. ‘Action plan’ then lists the moves you have written in, with a button that adds them to a new Intentions record.
Each line is a fact about your plan, not a step to take. Whether to use an allowance before it ends is a question for you and an adviser.
